Robert was born in Dayton, Ohio in 1926, and graduated from Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio and McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago. He served Presbyterian churches in Dayton, Cleveland, Ada, Dola and Columbus, Ohio for more than 40 years. He also served in various volunteer capacities, including as a counselor to the Council of Alcoholism in Columbus for almost 10 years.
Robert was an avid reader and life-long learner. His interests included astronomy, history, music and literature. In his younger years, he enjoyed camping with his family and playing handball with friends. He will be remembered by many for his sense of humor.
He died July 16, 2005. A memorial endowment to honor the way Robert lived was set up at Heifer Foundation with gifts from family and friends.
