A Donor's View

Cordell White's parents were married for 61 years before her father passed away last year. Her own enduring marriage reflects the values of her parents commitment - and commitment is a priority for Mrs. White. In addition to her personal relationships, she has been a committed partner in ending hunger for most of her life.

When each of her two children married, she established Anniversary Endowments in their names honoring her parents wedding anniversary. Each year her children will receive a card reminding them of their grandparents commitment to each other, and a reminder that, in their honor, a hungry family is receiving the life-sustaining gift of an animal from Heifer International. "My children know that we love them," says Mrs. White. "But in this day and time, it's nice to have gentle, loving reminders that commitment is a valuable commodity that we should take seriously. Most important, is that the reminders of our values, and those of my parents, will continue after our lifetime."
