USA: PHILIP AND AGNES KUCERA MEMORIAL ENDOWMENT FOR SMALL FARMERS

Established on July 27, 2006 by Joseph Kucera of Des Moines, Iowa in memory of his parents Philip and Agnes Kucera, who had farmed all of their life in central Iowa. Joseph said he had once donated $50 to Heifer International in his parent’s name and his Dad said several times before he died that it was the best gift he could receive. “So we feel this is a great way to keep that memory going,” Joseph said.

Some of Heifer's most valuable work is done right in its own backyard. Much of this work includes shoring up community food systems, working with rural communities reeling from the loss of small-scale family farms and breaking the cycle of poverty by partnering with rural and urban at-risk youth and underserved ethnic minorities.

I/We understand that this gift is given to an endowment at Heifer International Foundation and that the principal of the Fund shall remain intact and shall not be subject to invasion or distribution. I understand that 5.5% of the attributed earnings will be made available to Heifer International annually for its intended use.

I/We understand that if the Board of Trustees of Heifer International Foundation shall at any time determine that the uses of the Endowment are no longer appropriate and in accord with my/our desires and the objectives and principles of Heifer International Foundation, then Heifer International Foundation may, in the exercise of discretion, direct the application of the same in whole or in part to meet other appropriate projects as close as possible to the original intent and within the general charitable purposes of Heifer International Foundation.
