INDIAN NATION ENDOWMENT
Established in 2003 with a gift from Rev. Clyde H. McDaniel, Jr. of Okemos, Michigan to benefit the work of Heifer International in the Indian Nations. Rev. McDaniel established this endowment in honor of a couple he married, whose wedding service wording included words from a Navajo song, "Over a Rainbow Trail," that they found on a Heifer Foundation greeting card.
Some of Heifer's most valuable work is done right in its own backyard. Much of this work includes shoring up community food systems, working with rural communities reeling from the loss of small-scale family farms and breaking the cycle of poverty by partnering with rural and urban at-risk youth and underserved ethnic minorities. The Indian Nations are in dire need of Heifer's help.
