TIM AND GLORIA WHEELER HONDURAS ENDOWMENT

This fund honors the lengthy and invaluable service of Heifer’s Honduras Country Director, Tim Wheeler, and his wife, Gloria. The Wheelers often host Heifer study tours in their country, using them as an opportunity to educate guests about the realities of poverty, but also of the success of Heifer’s method. They are committed to making a difference, and set a fine example for us all.

One of the poorest countries in the Western Hemisphere, Honduras is still trying to regroup from Hurricane Mitch in 1998. A goal of the program there, as with all Heifer programs, is to support projects that can generate both food and economic resources to improve the families’ quality of life while being environment-friendly. Diversification is important, especially for a country that seems to fluctuate between drought and flooding, therefore Heifer has introduced beekeeping projects to coffee farmers and animals to monocropping farmers.

I/We understand that this gift is given to an endowment at Heifer International Foundation and that the principal of the Fund shall remain intact and shall not be subject to invasion or distribution. I understand that 5.5% of the attributed earnings will be made available to Heifer International annually for its intended use.

I/We understand that if the Board of Trustees of Heifer International Foundation shall at any time determine that the uses of the Endowment are no longer appropriate and in accord with my/our desires and the objectives and principles of Heifer International Foundation, then Heifer International Foundation may, in the exercise of discretion, direct the application of the same in whole or in part to meet other appropriate projects as close as possible to the original intent and within the general charitable purposes of Heifer International Foundation.
