UKRAINE CARE FUND
Established in 2002 with a gift from Dr. Michael E. and Betsy Fleenor of Birmingham, Alabama to benefit projects in the Ukraine.
At the time of dissolution of the U.S.S.R., Ukraine was a stellar performer, but by 1999 its output had fallen to less than 40 percent of its pre-independence levels. True freedom remains elusive, as the legacy of state control has been difficult to throw off. Unemployment is high in many areas. Through a dozen projects in various regions of the country, Heifer is working with farm families to improve nutrition, provide additional income and reduce unemployment by developing, primarily, family farms for dairy cattle or goat breeding. But there's even a beekeeping project in the Galychyna region!
To lend a hand to those struggling to adjust to their drastically changed world, give today.
