Disaster Recovery Endowments
Because we do not know when, where, or how destructive a disaster will be, Heifer International Foundation has established a Disaster Recovery Endowment to support the work of Heifer projects that are directly affected by disaster. Income from this endowment will provide hope and the assurance that we will be there with them working together to rebuild in the face of devastation. We are committed to those whose homes and livelihoods have been destroyed.
 When we face the tragedies of war in the U.S. and abroad; witness war-torn countries like Albania; or natural disasters, such as the volcanoes in Mexico, earthquakes in India, hurricanes in Honduras; we come to the realization that it is those who struggle daily from hunger and poverty that bare the brunt of these calamities. These are the people who rely upon the assistance of Heifer to build sustainability within their communities and bring about change that will affect future generations, so that world peace may one day be a reality.
 We must equip ourselves to continue the work that began almost 60 years ago, so that nothing can take away the hope of our mission. It isn't only the direct assistance and professional training we provide as animals are placed in communities - it's what happens inside of those we assist. Their changed outlook on life can bring hope to entire communities inspired by the spirit of giving. We believe those who receive our assistance should experience that same joy of giving. For them, it then becomes a way of life - and, ultimately, world peace.
Your contribution to this endowment will assure that Heifer International will be there for our recipients in the face of disaster to help rebuild and reinstate their progress toward sustainability.
