JIM L. ORPRECIO PHILIPPINES ENDOWMENT

Established in 1997 with gifts from Jim L. Orprecio, Heifer International Philippines Director, and friends. Additional contributions have come from school children with a former teacher working in the country, as well as from generous donors who enjoyed a Heifer study tour there and wanted to "pass on" a gift.

Heifer Philippines is doing water monitoring at the community level and overseeing a large training effort for community animal health volunteer programs. Draft animal programs have proven successful. Romeo, a beneficiary says "I can't forget those times when I was still a mere farmer using my bare hands to cultivate my farm. The only thing that changed my life was owning a carabao (water buffalo) from Heifer. It brought many blessings to us…"

I/We understand that this gift is given to an endowment at Heifer International Foundation and that the principal of the Fund shall remain intact and shall not be subject to invasion or distribution. I understand that 5.5% of the attributed earnings will be made available to Heifer International annually for its intended use.

I/We understand that if the Board of Trustees of Heifer International Foundation shall at any time determine that the uses of the Endowment are no longer appropriate and in accord with my/our desires and the objectives and principles of Heifer International Foundation, then Heifer International Foundation may, in the exercise of discretion, direct the application of the same in whole or in part to meet other appropriate projects as close as possible to the original intent and within the general charitable purposes of Heifer International Foundation.
