ZIMBABWE ENDOWMENT

Established in 2000 with matching funds from the Zimbabwe office.

Oh, Zimbabwe! Home to Victoria Falls and joyful people, yet according to some statistics, 70 % of them live beneath the poverty line. The country is racked by AIDS (The World Factbook says a full 1/3 of the country’s adults are HIV positive, with at least 800,000 AIDS orphans); inflation is out of control; and the chaotic land distribution campaign begun by President Mugabe in 2000 has caused an exodus of white farmers and crippled the economy. Heifer International in Zimbabwe has livestock projects including dairy cattle, draft animals, donkeys, pigs, goats, rabbits and ostrich. The recipients receive training in agro-forestry, animal care and drought mitigation to improve nutrition and income to provide daily necessities and education fees. There is also much work with orphans and their caregivers.

I/We understand that this gift is given to an endowment at Heifer International Foundation and that the principal of the Fund shall remain intact and shall not be subject to invasion or distribution. I understand that 5.5% of the attributed earnings will be made available to Heifer International annually for its intended use.

I/We understand that if the Board of Trustees of Heifer International Foundation shall at any time determine that the uses of the Endowment are no longer appropriate and in accord with my/our desires and the objectives and principles of Heifer International Foundation, then Heifer International Foundation may, in the exercise of discretion, direct the application of the same in whole or in part to meet other appropriate projects as close as possible to the original intent and within the general charitable purposes of Heifer International Foundation.
