KENYA ENDOWMENT

Established in 1998 with a gift from Harold and Dorothy Fincher of Waldo, Arkansas to benefit the work of Heifer International in Kenya.

Kenya, on Africa's eastern coast, is like so many other African countries, plagued by poverty and all the attending side effects: poor nutrition and health, lack of education, and now, the HIV/AIDS pandemic. Many advances made in the last two decades are being wiped out as parents, teachers, farmers, health care professionals and others fall victim to the disease. Heifer is doing what it can: not only is it introducing dairy goats and cows into villages, it is educating and empowering women, training farmers in sustainable techniques such as zero-grazing, and partnering with others to care for AIDS orphans.

I/We understand that this gift is given to an endowment at Heifer International Foundation and that the principal of the Fund shall remain intact and shall not be subject to invasion or distribution. I understand that 5.5% of the attributed earnings will be made available to Heifer International annually for its intended use.

I/We understand that if the Board of Trustees of Heifer International Foundation shall at any time determine that the uses of the Endowment are no longer appropriate and in accord with my/our desires and the objectives and principles of Heifer International Foundation, then Heifer International Foundation may, in the exercise of discretion, direct the application of the same in whole or in part to meet other appropriate projects as close as possible to the original intent and within the general charitable purposes of Heifer International Foundation.
