ETHIOPIA: REV. WILLIAM J. LYDECKER MEMORIAL ENDOWMENT
Established by a bequest of Rev. William J. Lydecker in January 2005. A Marine and Korean War Veteran, Rev. Lydecker lived a full, eventful life that included tours with the original Heifer “Cowboys” on relief missions in 1947 and several years spent at a mission in the Panama Canal Zone, where he traveled from parish to parish by boat.
Heifer's Africa projects are as varied as the languages, religions and customs of that vast continent. From working with the victims of the AIDS pandemic, especially orphans, to micro-enterprise (helping families to build small businesses), Heifer brings hope to the hopeless from Cameroon to Zambia. New country programs are thriving in Africa, thanks in great part to our generous donors. Just this past year in Rwanda, for example, the first generation of "pass-ons" was exchanged between families who were once enemies. Heifer Ghana is another new and stable program whose project work has gained a high profile because of a vaccination campaign led by Heifer Ghana project partners that reduced mortality rates for poultry across the country. While the Heifer Africa Program is synonymous with challenge, it is also synonymous with hope.
To help bring hope to Ethiopia; please give today.
