Burkina Faso Endowments

BURKINA FASO COUNTRY ENDOWMENT

Established in 2002 with funds raised by the Burkina Faso country staff and matched by Heifer Foundation.

Burkina Faso is one of the poorest countries in the world, so gifts to this country accomplish much indeed. In just three short years, working with a local partner organization, Heifer has transformed the lives of more than 400 families by distributing more than 1,000 animals; 3,500 trees; four oil presses; and five grain mills. A particular focus in this country is reforestation, and villagers are learning innovative environmental skills. Another project has brought livestock production training and animals to several schools. The schools can now generate income, thereby reducing their fees and increasing enrollment. Children are rewarded with animals and can use their new knowledge for livestock projects at home.

I/We understand that this gift is given to an endowment at Heifer International Foundation and that the principal of the Fund shall remain intact and shall not be subject to invasion or distribution. I understand that 5.5% of the attributed earnings will be made available to Heifer International annually for its intended use.

I/We understand that if the Board of Trustees of Heifer International Foundation shall at any time determine that the uses of the Endowment are no longer appropriate and in accord with my/our desires and the objectives and principles of Heifer International Foundation, then Heifer International Foundation may, in the exercise of discretion, direct the application of the same in whole or in part to meet other appropriate projects as close as possible to the original intent and within the general charitable purposes of Heifer International Foundation.
