Fisher Family and Friends Cambodia
Endowment

Alan and Michelle Fisher recently established the Fisher
Family and Friends Endowment to support Heifer's work
in Cambodia. They have also made their endowment a part
of their annual Christmas tradition.
Michelle writes:
"Alan and I decided several years ago that none
of our family or friends needed more "stuff!"
(Thank you, George Carlin.) Since then we have given gifts
to organizations or programs that we felt made a real
and immediate difference in someone's life. We played
Santa Claus with letters from the Post Office; have given
a scholarship to a school for disadvantaged children;
and have given a gift to Heifer International as our gift
to family and friends.
Last summer our daughter worked in Phnom Penh for two
months - she was part of the University of Michigan Law
School's project to re-build the Cambodian legal infrastructure
in the aftermath of the Pol Pot regime. We went to visit
her there and became seriously enamored of the country
and the people. We were determined to concentrate what
resources we have to direct to Cambodia and to "make
a difference."
We traditionally have a dinner party on Christmas Eve
and part of each place setting is a gift - which used
to be "stuff" but now is something tangible
that represents the gift we've made to Heifer Foundation.
By setting up the endowment, we can (1) direct the funds
to Cambodia programs and (2) create a vehicle for additional
gifts by family and friends to build the endowment."
Thanks to people like Michelle and Alan Fisher, Heifer's
helping hand in Cambodia will be available as long as
there is a need.
