Dorothy Linke

Dorothy "Dolly" P. Linke, 94, passed away September 26, 2016.

Born October 5, 1921 in Pittsburgh, she earned her BA from Chatham and her MS and Ed.S from Butler University. She was a dedicated teacher and reading consultant for Indianapolis Public Schools. Dolly lived to serve others as reflected by her many service awards, including the Mayor's Volunteer Partnership Award, Lutheran Brotherhood's Fraternalist of the Year, Saint Francis Hospital's Spirit of Women Award, Lighthouse Ministries Beacon of Hope Award and Marion County Council on Aging's Senior Volunteer of the Year. She was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa teacher's sorority and the American Legion Auxiliary. As a docent for Indiana Landmarks and the Athenaeum Foundation, she shared her appreciation for Indianapolis history. At Good Shepherd Lutheran Church she established the Red Basket Room, spearheading donations of items and money for charities.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Linke; and parents Robert and Ruth Purkiss. She is survived by her daughter, Bobbie Campbell (Tom); gradson Matt Campbell (Valerie), and three great-grandsons.
