Dr. Samuel Bennehoff loved Heifer International so much that he often thought of moving to Arkansas to be near the International headquarters.
Sam was born January 31, 1901, and passed away on December 20, 1991. He acquired his D.D.S. at the University of Pittsburgh, and also took some work at Allegheny College in the area of theology. Dr. Bennehoff practiced dentistry for several years in Pennsylvania, and then moved to Fontana, California where he practiced for many years. After retirement, he spent many years ministering at the North Palm Springs Community Church, where he was the pastor.
Dr. Bennehoff lived a very frugal and humble lifestyle. He was a man of integrity, and had a sincere desire to have his life bring glory to the Lord.
A memorial was established in 1992 with Heifer International Foundation from the bequest of Samuel Bennehoff. Every year, income from the Dr. Samuel Bennehoff Memorial will be used by Heifer International to help families produce food and income for themselves.
