Jeannette Cartzendafner

New Windsor, MD

Jeanette E. Cartzendafner was born May 30, 1925. She was the daughter of the late Herman M. and Alice Weatherly Eyler. She was the wife of William D. “Bud” Cartzendafner who predeceased her in 2004.

Jeanette was a 1943 graduate of Liberty High School. She was formerly employed as a telephone operator in Union Bridge, Maryland and later with JC Penny Co., Westminster for more than 40 years. After retirement she volunteered at the New Windsor Service Center and Heifer Project. She was an active member of Edgewood Church of the Brethren where she served as a deaconess, choir director, and Sunday school teacher.

Jeanette was a charter member of the Taneytown Cancer Support Group, being a breast cancer survivor for 23 years. She was a member of the Taneytown Senior Citizens and the Carroll County Choral Society. Her concern for the Heifer Project was important to her and to her late husband.

A memorial was established with Heifer International Foundation with a gift from Jeanette E. Cartzendafner. Every year, income from the Jeanette E. Cartzendafner Memorial Endowment will be used by Heifer International to help families produce food and income for themselves.
