Delna A. Campbell

Reno, NV

Delna Campbell was born September 23, 1923 to Wilber Lester Bonham and Winifred Delna Banta-Bonham in Paradise, California. She moved with her parents to Sacramento County and later joined them in their family business.

She attended UC Davis and married Morris Grant Campbell on July 17, 1943. She had lived in Reno since 1957. She was an active member of St. John’s Presbyterian Church where she was instrumental in establishing the St. John’s Child Daycare Center, served as an elder, a church school teacher, church school superintendent and participated in the Presbyterian Women’s Association and the Senior Singles Club.

She was on the original and organizing board of directors for the Truckee Meadows Habitat for Humanity and served as its treasurer in the early years. She was a lifetime of the Sierra Club and participated in many environmental projects. She was active in Tahoe Rim Train Association, Elder College, Peruvian Paso Horse Registry and the German Shepherd Dog Club of Reno.

Delna passed away on December 21, 2005. She is survived by a son, George Grant Campbell, a brother Kenneth Lester Bonham, nephews, two great nieces and three great nephews all of California.

A memorial was established with Heifer International Foundation from the bequest of Delna Campbell. Every year, income from the Delna A. Campbell Memorial Endowment will be used by Heifer Project International to help families produce food and income for themselves.
