Rosalee at her retirement reception in Little Rock

Letter from Rosalee

Grateful Thanks from Rosalee:

A few years ago I put together a collection of my journals, essays and stories, and titled it "Blessings Along the Way". Thirty-nine years ago I could not have imagined in my best and wildest dreams all that has happened in my life. I am grateful for many things. My husband Paul and my children and grandchildren have given me the freedom to follow my dreams. I have an extended global family here and around the world who continue to inspire me with their ability to share and to pass on the gift of friendship.

I am deeply touched to have Heifer Foundation establish "The Rosalee Sinn Women in Livestock Development Endowment." Heifer's work to empower women has been so very important. I can remember when WiLD was first started that a group in Sierra Leone who had no relationship with Heifer wrote that they had established a WiLD group because they felt so empowered by the concept.

A cow is the symbol of Heifer and folks around the world associate me with goats. Only a few know that I collect teddy bears because when no one else hears you, they are good listeners and more than once have helped me solve a problem. But there is another special creature for me - and it is not a yak. . . it is a frog. The reason I like frogs is that they never go backwards, they always go forward, but they can change direction. I hope that Heifer will continue to go forward, but that we are willing to change directions many times as we look at the great needs in the world. There is a great need and opportunity in this moment of history to lift people over the rim of poverty to self reliance as we practice justice, peace and as we care for the earth.

Truly, there have been thousands of blessings along the way. I will cherish each of them as I move out into a different life. I am closing one door and opening another - and the view on the other side looks good.

With Love,
Rosalee
